4. Topic: Chinese FDI(Foreign Direct Investment) in the U.S. and in Latin America, Part 2
A year ago on March 12, 2013, Gil gave a presentation
on the same topic. His new presentation on the same topic was a sequel to the first one and brought us to date on what has happened since.
The last 12 months have seen a surge on outward FDI from China to the United States and to Latin America. China continues to invest heavily in raw materials and energy sectors (agriculture, oil, and mining). However, for 2014 and beyond, China will see a diversification into high technology investment (USA), and as Chinese wages continue to increase, more manufacturing facilities, especially in Mexico, will continue to grow.
In Latin America, raw materials and energy will
continue to be their choice for Chinese FDI.
